Chris Miller

Founder & Lead Photographer

Based in New Jersey, I founded PhotoGives to bridge the gap between professional photography and charitable impact. My mission is to use visual storytelling to support organizations making a difference in our communities.

Through PhotoGives, I provide pro-bono photography services to qualifying non-profits and donate proceeds from select commercial projects to support the communities I document. Every photograph serves a purpose beyond aesthetics.

My work focuses on authentic storytelling that helps charitable organizations communicate their mission, document their impact, and connect with supporters in meaningful ways.

My Journey

How It All Started

My photography journey began in college, but it wasn't until I started volunteering with local New Jersey non-profits that I discovered the power of visual storytelling for charitable causes. I saw how compelling photography could dramatically improve an organization's ability to communicate their mission.

The Turning Point

After years of traditional commercial photography, I realized I wanted my work to have deeper meaning. I began offering pro-bono services to select charitable organizations and was amazed by the impact professional photography could have on their fundraising and awareness efforts.

Building PhotoGives

After years of photography work, I saw the need for an organization that could bridge the gap between visual storytelling and community support right here in New Jersey. PhotoGives was born from a desire to use photography not just to document, but to actively support the communities that open their doors to us.

Looking Forward

PhotoGives continues to grow, partnering with more New Jersey organizations each year. My goal is to help charitable organizations across the Garden State tell their stories more effectively while building a sustainable model that gives back to the communities that trust us with their narratives.

My Photography Philosophy

Respectful Storytelling

Every person has a story worth telling with dignity and respect. I approach each subject as a collaborator, not just a subject.

Authentic Moments

The most powerful photographs capture genuine emotions and real experiences, not staged or manipulated scenes.

Purpose-Driven Work

Every photograph should serve a greater purpose beyond aesthetics – whether that's raising awareness, funds, or inspiring action.

Community Partnership

The best documentary work happens when photographers work with communities, not just in them.

Tools of the Trade

While the heart of photography lies in connection and storytelling, having the right equipment enables me to capture the best possible images in challenging conditions.

I volunteer with local community organizations, believing that photographers should give back beyond just their art.

Teaching

I teach photography workshops to young people in underserved communities, sharing both technical skills and ethical storytelling practices.

Advocating
